1.
Board the Mont-Blanc Express in the Chamonix valley and stop at Chatelard-Village. Tip: take a ticket for Marecottes and get off at Chatelard village, it's less expensive.
2. There, aboard the Châtelard funicular, the ascent is vertiginous (up to 87% gradient).
3. 700 m higher, the
panoramic train
winds through forests and tunnels to the foot of the Émosson dam in 10 minutes.
4. The end of the journey is near as you take your place aboard the
Minifunic. Like a toy or a merry-go-round, this mini funicular is spectacular.
Beyond the trip and the discovery of the exceptional site of the Emosson dam, VerticAlp provides access to the start of many activities:
Short hike (approx. 1/2 hr.) along the educational path (a "rando" package is available at chf 35.-). Ascend with the 3 installations, then walk down to Les Montuires. Finish by funicular to Chatelard.
Getting around in front of Mont-Blanc while respecting nature and marvelling at its beauty - that's why
VerticAlp is an essential part of the Chamonix and Trient valleys.
Whether you're a sportsman or not, whether you're looking for sumptuous landscapes and an original trip, VerticAlp will meet all your expectations!
Daily, weather permitting
Departures every 30 minutes
Ascent (from Châtelard): 9am - 4pm
Descent (from Émosson): 9.20am - 5.15pm
Wow! This ascension trip is just a must! 🤩
I had a global experience as a family :
🚞 We boarded the @montblancexpress to get to Châtelard Village, in 🇨🇭. 50 min from Chamonix (this train connects St Gervais-le Fayet to Martigny).
🐛Then, for the first time, we board the Funiculaire du Châtelard. A strange caterpillar of the future that climbs 87%! Astonishing! (10 min)
🚂 It's the panoramic train's turn to take us to the Emosson dam! A 10-minute journey with an exceptional view.
🎢 Finally, aboard the Minifunic, we climb "dré dans le pentu" to the dam. Impressive! (2 min)
The zip line along the dam! 😱 450m across at 200m high! 😜
⏱️Compter a good half-day, or even a full day to really enjoy the place and its rides!
So, who's already done this trip, or who's keen to plan it?
