What to do in Chamonix in spring?

Are the ski lifts open outside of school holidays in Chamonix? Can you still ski in Chamonix in spring? What should I do if I don't ski? So many questions that I will try to answer for your next stay in the Chamonix valley.

Chamonix ski lifts open in spring

Rest assured, in spring, in the Chamonix valley, you can still take cable cars, trains and gondolas. Which means, if the snow conditions allow it of course, that you can still ski until the beginning of May!

Let's take a closer look at the openings by sites and domains:

Unmissable visits for skiers and pedestrians

Aiguille du Midi

Open until May 31: 8:10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The Site de l’Aiguille is probably the most spectacular in the Chamonix valley.

  • Because you go up to 3842m (the highest point of the valley)
  • Because it’s from here that you can see Mont Blanc up close (unless you climb it)
  • Because you can have your photo taken in “the step into the void”, an impressive glass “cage”.
  • Because you will learn a lot about the mountains, mountaineering and cable car construction.

But also, skier friends, because the Aiguille du Midi is the start of the famous Vallée Blanche (off-piste route to be carried out with the essential adapted equipment and highly recommended with a high mountain guide.)
